In 2004, the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and the American Respiratory Care Foundation (ARCF) called for a meeting to develop a strategy for globalization of Respiratory Care Profession. Selected international respiratory care leaders and members of ICRC were invited to the meeting with key officials of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and the American Respiratory Care Foundation (ARCF), the meeting was held in Dallas, Shortly after, It was suggested to develop a course titled Fundamental Respiratory Care Support Course (FRCSC); under the auspices of the AARC in collaboration with the ARCF to be offered worldwide, the course is to be comprehensive and standardized covering all aspects of respiratory care; and should be based on best practice standards, identification of need, and upon written invitation by the requesting entity. The paramount goal is to enhance the care of respiratory patients around the globe by training individuals to properly and safely provide respiratory therapy procedures.
